Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 6, 2026

What this means in plain English
  • We collect what's needed to run your account and help you organize EFA spending, receipts, and school records.
  • Parents or legal guardians are the account holders. We do not create accounts for children.
  • We do not collect Social Security numbers, government IDs, precise location, or your ClassWallet password.
  • The Chrome extension and Gmail sync only pull in ClassWallet-related purchase information — nothing else.
  • We use Supabase, Stripe, Anthropic, and Vercel to run the service.
  • You can export or delete your family's data at any time.
  • We may use fully anonymized, aggregated data to improve the product. We do not sell personal information.

1. Who We Are

Seryne is a web application at seryne.ai designed for Arkansas homeschool families participating in the state's Education Freedom Account program. Seryne helps families track spending caps and purchases, store receipts, organize records, generate educational logs and transcripts, and import ClassWallet-related transaction details through optional integrations. In this Privacy Policy, "Seryne," "we," "our," and "us" mean the operator of seryne.ai. "You" means the parent or legal guardian who creates and manages the account.

2. What We Collect

Account information. When you create an account: name, email address, and password handled through Supabase Authentication.

Family and student information. Child's first name, last name, grade level, and scholarship type — entered by you to organize school records.

Purchase and transaction information. Vendor name, amount, date, category, submission status, and purchase history you enter or connect.

Receipts and uploaded files. Receipt images, PDFs, and supporting records you choose to upload.

Chrome extension data. If you use the Seryne Chrome extension, it reads transaction information displayed in your ClassWallet account and sends it to Seryne to help you organize your records.

Gmail sync data. If you connect Gmail, Seryne reads only ClassWallet confirmation emails to help identify and organize EFA-related purchases.

Billing information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, plan information, and billing state. We do not store your full card number.

Device and usage information. Basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, access times, and error reports needed to operate and secure the app.

3. What We Never Collect

  • Social Security numbers
  • Government ID numbers
  • Precise geolocation
  • Your ClassWallet login credentials or password
  • Personal information directly from children under 13 through child-created accounts
  • Unrelated browsing history through the Chrome extension
  • Unrelated email content through Gmail sync

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to create and manage your account, authenticate logins, import and organize ClassWallet transaction history, store receipts and records, track EFA spending and caps, generate educational logs and transcripts at your direction, suggest justification text using AI tools, process subscriptions and billing, provide customer support, prevent fraud and security issues, comply with legal obligations, and improve Seryne's features and performance.

5. Anonymized Data and Future Use

We may create and use fully anonymized, aggregated information derived from platform activity for product improvement, research, and future business use. Before using data in this way, we remove information that could reasonably identify a family or student — including names, amounts, and direct identifiers.

This may include aggregated vendor approval and denial outcomes, anonymized justification text patterns, and anonymized spending patterns by category and grade level. We may use this information to improve Seryne's AI suggestions, build vendor confidence scoring tools, and share or license aggregate insights to curriculum vendors, researchers, policy organizations, or government agencies.

We do not sell personal information. Anonymized, aggregated information is treated as separate from personal information once it cannot reasonably be linked back to an individual family.

6. Children's Privacy

Seryne is designed for parents or legal guardians, not children. Parents create and manage all accounts and decide what student information to enter. Student information is used only to help families organize homeschool and EFA-related records.

If we learn that we have collected personal information directly from a child in a way that is not parent-controlled, we will take steps to delete that information. Parents may review, update, export, or request deletion of their children's information at any time by contacting us at privacy@seryne.ai.

7. Chrome Extension Data

The extension accesses vendor names, transaction dates, amounts, categories, and submission status visible on ClassWallet.com pages. It does not collect your ClassWallet password, unrelated browsing history, or data from websites other than those necessary for its purpose.

Extension data is used only to import your ClassWallet transaction history into Seryne, match transactions to receipts or records, and improve core import accuracy. It is not used for advertising or hidden tracking.

8. Gmail Data

If you connect Gmail, Seryne requests access only to locate and process ClassWallet-related confirmation emails. We use Gmail-connected data only to identify relevant confirmation emails, extract limited purchase details, and match those details to transactions and records in Seryne.

We do not read unrelated personal email, sell Gmail data, use Gmail content for advertising, or transfer Gmail data to third parties except as needed to provide the service. You can disconnect Gmail access at any time through your Seryne settings or your Google account permissions.

9. AI and Automated Suggestions

Seryne uses the Anthropic Claude API to help generate purchase justification suggestions, record summaries, transcript language, and organizational text. When AI tools are used, we send only the information reasonably necessary to generate the requested output.

AI-generated suggestions are a helper tool. You are responsible for reviewing any generated text before using or submitting it. We do not promise that AI suggestions will always be accurate, complete, or accepted by any third party.

10. Stripe and Payments

Seryne uses Stripe to process payments and manage subscriptions. Stripe collects and processes payment card details and billing information according to Stripe's own privacy practices. Seryne stores only limited subscription metadata: Stripe customer ID, subscription status, plan identifiers, and billing state. We do not store full payment card numbers on our own servers.

11. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information.

Service providers. We share information with Supabase (authentication, database, file storage), Stripe (payment processing), Anthropic (AI-powered text assistance), and Vercel (hosting and infrastructure).

At your direction. When you connect a service, upload records, export data, or request support.

Legal and safety reasons. When reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect the rights or safety of Seryne or our users, or detect and prevent fraud.

12. Your Rights

Access and update. You can access and update account and family information inside Seryne.

Export. You may request an export of your records, including educational records and account data.

Delete. You may request deletion of your account and your family's records, including student information, purchase logs, and stored receipts.

Disconnect integrations. You may disconnect Gmail or uninstall the Chrome extension at any time.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@seryne.ai.

13. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect against fraud. When you request account deletion, we aim to delete or de-identify your personal information and associated family records within 30 to 90 days, except where limited retention is required for legal compliance, tax or accounting records, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the Effective Date above and take reasonable steps to notify users. Your continued use of Seryne after an updated policy becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.

Attorney Review Recommended

Several sections of this policy — including anonymized data licensing, children's privacy positioning, Gmail disclosure language, and FERPA wording — should be reviewed by a licensed privacy attorney before this policy is published publicly.

Key areas to review: Arkansas Student Data Vendor Security Act (Act 754, 2023), COPPA compliance, Google API Services User Data Policy, Chrome Web Store privacy disclosure requirements, and your data retention and breach-notification workflow.
